Preparing to Meet with Your Worker’s Compensation Lawyer

If you have been injured on the job or at the workplace, then you are entitled to receive financial compensation from your employer and its insurance company. This is meant to help or completely cover the medical costs of treatment. Companies will occasionally attempt to deny or minimize the funds they dispense and this creates grounds for a workers’ compensation lawsuit. Before you meet with a lawyer to discuss the strategy in such a case, it is a good idea to have a few things prepared in advance.

One of the most important things that you can have in preparation for the initial meeting with your lawyer is an accurate account of the incident that caused the injury. As soon as possible after the accident, write down as much information as is possible about the nature of the incident, including what was injured, how, and what medical treatment was sought afterwards. More information is always better as such documentation will help prove the amount of expenses later on. If you filed an accident report with the employer, you will want to have a copy of that as well.

Secondly, you will want to do some research and select the best lawyer that you can find to represent you for your case. Worker’s compensation cases are not guaranteed wins and therefore having a lawyer that is both skilled and experienced will increase your chances of victory greatly.

At the Franco Law Firm, we have been helping people win worker’s compensation cases for many years and know the best strategies for dealing with employers and insurance companies.
