Why Photos are So Important After a Car Accident

The moments immediately following a car accident can be scary and stressful, but knowing what to do and how to handle the situation will serve you better in the long run. One of the first things that experts will recommend that you do following an accident is to gather as much evidence as possible of what happened during the accident in case such information is necessary later on. If you need to file a personal injury lawsuit, having the right evidence will strengthen your case and hopefully allow you to win as large of a settlement as possible.

The best kind of evidence that you can collect after an accident are photographs. Why are photos so important? Photographs are one of, if not the only, pieces of evidence that provide an exact representation of how things were at the scene of the accident. While witness statements can be useful, photos are much more precise and are more easily obtained. If you take photos from your cell phone, there will also be a timestamp provided, making this method not only easy, but very useful in a court of law.

What should you take photos of at the scene of the accident. The first things you should record are any damages done to your vehicle. Having photo evidence at the scene of the accident will prove that the damages were not caused later on. The same principle applies to any physical injuries you may have sustained. While not all injuries can be photographed with a cell phone, the obvious ones can and should be. This may include cuts, bruises, or any other obvious physical damages.

When in doubt, always collect as much photo evidence as possible, as they will greatly strengthen any argument later on in your personal injury case. We at the Franco Law Firm can help guide as well through your personal injury case and increase your chances of victory even more.
