Florida Amazon Warehouse Worker Reveals Shocking Safety Issues

WarehouseWorkers

Amazon has been under the magnifying glass for some time now, with numerous injured warehouse workers coming forward with shocking allegations. It seems clear that the government is taking decisive action against this company for the way it has been treating its employees. The latest person to come forward is an injured worker from Florida. She describes an environment rife with danger and hazards – one in which workers are lucky not to go a few weeks without being injured in some way, shape, or form. But what can you do if you have been injured while working in a Florida warehouse?

Kali Kennelly’s Story

All Kali wanted to do was provide for her two kids. She took a job at Amazon because she believed it was her chance to work her way through the ranks at this major tech company – something that Amazon assured her was possible when she signed up. But instead of being lifted up, she was struck down – by falling packages that caused a serious head injury. This incident caused a major concussion that she still struggles with to this day.

When her doctor told her to take it easy, Amazon pushed back – refusing to let her work in a safer setting and forcing her to stay home instead. As a result, she has been trying her best to survive only on workers’ compensation benefits. Kelly is not so optimistic about the future due to her head injury, stating: “When I first started, I loved it there. I loved going to work every night. It was nothing like it is now. Now, it’s like I have to fight myself to get up.”

Falling Packages Is a Serious Problem in Warehouses

Falling items represent a serious hazard at warehouses, and it seems as though this issue is especially common at Amazon warehouses. Throughout the nation, warehouse workers at Amazon facilities have been repeatedly struck by falling objects weighing more than 50 pounds. The cause? These packages are apparently improperly stacked – an almost inevitable issue with Amazon’s notoriously fast-paced environment and impossible quotas. An Amazon spokesperson stated: “At any work environment where employees are moving, packing or unpacking a significant number of items, there’s a risk of those items becoming dislodged. We do everything we can to reduce that risk.”
