Traffic Tips for Raymond James Stadium

Raymond James Stadium (home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and University of South Florida football team) has the capacity to seat over 65,000 people. Not only is it used for football it also plays host music concerts – and it has even accommodated an international soccer match back in 2012. Its most recent renovation in 2016 has made it an even more desirable sports and music venue – so chances are you may well be visiting in the future if you’re from the area, no matter what your interests.

So with a busy football season and 65,000 seats to fill, traffic can understandably be affected by a game. If you’re intending on getting to and from the stadium and want to avoid being stuck in the parking area all night, follow these tips:

It’s First-Come, First-Serve

There are around 10,000 spaces available on-site, and plenty more around. There are 14 official parking facilities on offer, however they are on a first-come first-serve basis and 9 of them are for season ticket holders only. This means you need to make sure you’re here nice and early. Parking tends to cost round $25 a day. There is disabled parking available, again on a first-come first-serve basis.

There are Plenty of Unofficial Parking Lots

Close by to the stadium there are several parking lots, all within walking distance and ranging from $10-20 per day. Use Google Maps to find out more, these are a few of many on offer:

• 4109 N Himes Ave ($20)

Many of the public parking lots also allow tailgating

Pre-Book Parking

There are many apps (such as Parking Panda) that you can use to pre-book a parking space.

Rideshare

Uber and Grab can be used as an alternative if you don’t want the hassle of driving. There is a dedicated rideshare pickup and drop-off lot (located on Steinbrenner Drive)

When you have found a driver be sure to communicate with them promptly as there may be road closures. There may also be surge charging.
